M.A.D.

It's like music to my ears.

Each sweet word that's spoken tells me how you feel.

Is this love I feel inside?

A gentle touch and then a kiss. I crave these things you know.

To be the one you wake up to and who watches you while you sleep.

Each time I hear your voice my heart skips a beat.

The tune it plays is meant for you.

Because each time I hear your voice it's music to my ears.

I Think I'm Falling...

Everyday I think of you.
Every morning I wake with you on my mind.
Every night I dream of you.
Time after time after time.
And I think I'm falling in love.

You once only thought of me as a friend.
Now I hope your thoughts of me will never end.
I wait for you to make you move.
I seem to wait so long.
I'll be here patiently waiting on.
And I think I'm falling in love.

At first the thought of love just made me cry.
Because I've been hurt before.
But I just can't resist these feelings anymore.

Because I think I'm falling in love.

Here I Am

we have our ups and downs.

sometimes strong, sometimes weak.

then there comes a point when we just have to break down and everyone doesn’t want to go there.

somehow staying focused is the key. not letting go of the child in us and get to see the better side.

all that I could think of for now is…

to make something that is failing become strong and successful again.

to make skin / hair look healthy again

to make someone feel healthy again.

thus, giving myself, someone… a new lease of life.

YES, I AM OK NOW

I don’t usually write about personal stuff here. Actually I always do but in an indirect way. I usually try to spread the positive vibes and all the things going on around me. What’s going on in my life right now? After what I’ve gone through over the past month, I’ve realized that pain and suffering are part of the human experience.  Everyone goes through love and failure and sooner or later awakens to a new experience of life.

The past week has felt like my mind shutdown. And no, I wasn’t on some kind of drugs or what. I was going through a breakup. Yes,  It’s been one of the most painful and crushing experiences of my life thus far. And I’m surviving.

When an important relationship comes to an end, whether both people knew it was coming or not, it’s a huge change and loss. Especially if you live together. It feels like life as you know it is being ripped out from under you. It feels like you have to create an entirely new life. You want things to be back to normal. It’s a foolishly, puzzling array of emotions.

When we decided officially to end the relationship, the first few days were insanely painful. Painful doesn’t even describe what I was feeling. I was in total denial and shock that it was actually over.

So listen. I’ll stop there.

BUT.

One thing is for sure,  I love myself. I love myself more.

LOVING & LETTING GO

Love will always be the sweetest feeling you could feel. When you’re in love, the world is always bright and life is so light to carry. Everything is so easy and there is always a certain glow in your eyes. When you’re in love, you don’t seem to care for the deficiency of the person you love. It is always a great feeling that you wish would be forever.

However, there is always the risk of falling in love. One risk would be getting hurt. And a big part of getting hurt is letting go. However, if you look at the good side of it, getting hurt is a way to mold your personality. Letting go not just of your ill-feelings but the person whom you offered love and care is very much painful. Nevertheless, you might not know it, the feeling of getting hurt is molding you to become a stronger person, a better person, a more mature person.

I do have my share of loving and letting go. When I look back those days when I was so in love and it turn out that I have to let go, I would now smile and couldn’t help but be grateful to the persons who caused me pains and aches. Without them hurting me, I would have not survived the storms in my life that could have made me crumble like a helpless uprooted tree. Although there are events which you wish to have not took place, but still remains the fact that there are things which really might not meant to be.

After all, as the line of song goes, “what matters most, is that we loved at all.”

Hello

After years of being inactive, I've decided to write again.

It's been two years. Really? It felt longer.

So I shall start to write again, not only for you who read my post, but for me as well.

I have so many pent-up rants in me that I just have to let go.

I am to educate primarily myself.

But if you learn something in the process, that's two claps for me!

So off I go for lunch.

Edol

He paused and looked at me.
Shook his head ok as if to say he knew it was time.
I still cry when I picture that image.
I was holding his hand when he took his last breath.
I still thank God for that.
His chest puffed up... and his soul ascended.
I love you, Papa.

LDR - LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP

NOT let “distance” be the excuse to end the relationship. As the saying goes, if there’s a will there’s a way.

There also has to be TRUST in the relationship.

The benefit of being friends for a long time before distance is a factor.

Communication is also important.

That doesn't mean calling each other every hour or demand text update on whereabouts or who you're with.

Everyone needs space but not too much.

Everyone is busy but you shouldn't make her/him feel that you don't have time. A simple text or a one-minute-call will let her/him know that you are thinking of her/him too.

You don't take communication for granted.

Others also need to realize LDRs affect more than just the couple involved – family members and friends are affected too.

Relationship will grow from strength to strength if you put in the effortYou'll truly treasure the little things and it will make you appreciate your other half even more.

You might be jealous of others enjoying an standard relationship but if you make it through, others will look at yours with envy at the couple who truly made it through thick and thin.

BUT not all long distance relationship survive.

Three Days After

Everyone prays to find the love that'll change their life
A love that will give answer to their questions
certainty to their doubts
I prayed and I found you

I looked in your eyes and I saw all of my dreams coming true
The moments we have shared seems never ending
until you let go of my hand
the hand you once held on to

It was once a perfect love
a love that brightens up my life
It was once a perfect love
a love that I thought was forever
It was once a perfect love
But that love is now just a memory of my past

How I wish I can make you stay
so I can make you see how much you mean to me
How I wish I can hold you closer
so I can make you feel the beating of my heart
How I wish our perfect love didnt end

The sun may go on shining
the world may keep on turning
as the river flows
my tears won't fade away
for my life will never be the same

because I lost my perfect love

Wait

I’m admittedly terrible at this one.

I’m perpetually in a hurry to “get it done.”

But it’s amazing how different things can look from one day to the next.

Maybe even from one hour to the next.

I can't tell you the number of times I could have done something better by just practicing this simple principle.

Wait.

Blank

When you go on a date it can be handy to have a few conversation topics on standby just in case the conversation comes to a grinding halt.

Nothing feels more uncomfortable than the conversation running dry and the more you desperately try to think of something original to say the more your mind seems to go blank.

It is kind of like taking an exam at school, you know all about the topics that will be in the test but once you sit down in the classroom to take the exam, your mind goes blank but the moment the exam is over and the pressure is off, all that information comes flooding back into your head.

Realizations in 2013

Make FRIENDS.

You are what you do - not what you say.
Actions and  words should not be mutually exclusive.

Have a firm handshake.
More that just a greeting. It is also a message about your personality and confidence level.

SMILE always. =)

Never interrupt another person when they are speaking.
Conversations aren’t a contest.

READ.

Be thankful and appreciate what you have.

PRAY.

It's really never too late to learn something new.

TIME is the greatest gift that you can give to someone.

I know it sounds cliche, but those are a few of the things that I realized. I hope you year was full of realizations. Have a happy and colorful New Year!

I Started a Joke

Admittedly I didn't see the show, I cannot comment on the context of the joke.

But based on what I've read, obviously the subject matter is a serious one.

Having said that, anyone who's been raped will not find it funny.

He or she will find it offensive.

Women who've been subjected to sexual assault will not find it funny.

Anyone who's been bullied in one form or another will not find it funny either.

True, it was just a joke and it was all for laughs.

But like any form of entertainment, comedy can be in bad taste or good taste.

I think this one falls in the former.

What saves the comedian on this issue is that there is free speech in this country.

Law

Every law is crafted for a special reason that aims the betterment of the general public, the public interest, or the common good.

However, the provisions of the law are rendered meaningless if the public themselves, much more the students of law, are unaware of the significance of the provisions of the law and how they work.

The reason why some laws failed to achieve their objectives is the poor enforcement and lack of awareness of the people, who are supposed to know them specifically, members of the legal community.

Red

How would you describe red to a blind person?

It is impossible for somebody to describe color red to a blind person. A blind person could hardly identify what color red is for he is deprived of visual perception.

rules

imagine a world where rules where never broken.

we would be living in darkness and walking everywhere we went to hunt our food.

we would have a life expectancy of say 48 years.

a thoughtful prudent rule breaker is responsible for nearly every bit of progress ever made!

unhappy

Define what happiness is to you. What are your expectations of happiness? I personally realized that I had a distorted ideal of what happiness is. Happiness isn’t about doing back flips everyday. Life is an emotional roller coaster. Sometimes we are happy, other times we will be sad, angry, frustrated, etc. To me, happiness is something I feel on any given day. To say that I’m unhappy means that I’m unhappy everyday, period. However, what about when I do something I enjoy like going for a run along the beach, or cooking, or when I spend time with my friends / cousins chatting and watching movies / tv series or going out with them. Is it appropriate to say that I’m unhappy even though I’m enjoying what I’m doing? Remember, it’s about what you are feeling right now, not something in the past, this is brooding. If we dwell on all the things that make us unhappy then naturally we will feel miserable.

What I find helpful is to engage in what I’m doing, rather than letting my mind wander off. This way I can isolate my feelings specifically to what I’m doing. What I discovered was that I’m actually happy, just not as happy as I would like to be (yet). There’s a difference.

In saying all this, it’s not something that will change overnight. It will take persistence. But being aware enables us to make the necessary changes.

I will close with a question I once asked myself that helped me make an important realization: If we can’t see the good things we already have, then how will we see the good things we don’t have?

dream (5)

i wish for another good dream.

i miss these artistically surreal dreams i almost always have whenever i undergo my REM sessions.

but how can i when i rarely even get sleep

and counting sheep isn't even the problem?

i guess i should be wishing for this first:

a regular, ample sleep.

in void of

like the oar behind the sail
afloat or the branches of
a tree behind the leaves,
missing has never been
as painful as the waves
kissing and leaving
the sand anew.

to the distance.
yes, from the distance.

as the moon fails
to kiss the earth.

that’s how the yard
of your blooming blossoms
became to be
the morning after.
beneath the shadow of dawn,
fog falling down.

My Fault.

It isn't anyone's but mine,
a carefree way of not showing.
And I'm sorry If you've felt bad
or uncomfortable, forgive me.

You've pulled me out of every manhole,
saved me every time from drowning.
Called me back to earth and,
released me from my prisons.

Showed me cultures and varied tastes,
instilled that dreams aren't ever fake.
That magic's not a fairytale,
and science holds the truth to tell.

Showed me that I can always think,
and choose even amidst mistakes.
And for all of this I cannot take,
a path without you.

I'm Sorry.

Prayer

Father in heaven we thank you for all the blessings you have given us.You have always watched over us and provided our needs. Lord you are the reason why we are still alive, why we still manage to survive in this world despite hardships and tribulations that we encounter in our daily existence. You are the source of our strength, our courage and our determination.

Lord please forgive all of us for our shortcomings, for the never ending sins that we continuously commit. Please grant us the wisdom to know and rectify our mistakes, please fortify our spirit so that we can fight the endless temptations in this world dear God. May you bless us with the power of your Holy Spirit so that we can endure every obstacle that would come our way. Please watch over our loved ones and keep them away from harm, and may you touch all of us so that we can remain healthy and strong.

Lord you are the master and creator of everything, you know what each and everyone of us so desperately desire. Father please look deep within our hearts, hear our cry oh Lord and if we are worthy of the things that we are asking for, please help us in our quest to achieve and obtain them. Guide us all throughout our journey Father, so that all our fears will be consigned to oblivion, so that we can attain inner peace.

AMEN.

Legal Basis

Legal basis need not be explained.

If everything has to be proven and explained, then nothing can be explained at all.

There must be a self evident proposition on which something stands and subsists.

This proposition need not be explained since it is evident.

An attempt to explain this self-evident proposition will lead to an endless question and dispute.

Hence, if everything needs to be explained, nothing can be explained and asserted in the end.

To make the long story short, not every detail needs an explanation.

Untitled

I regrettably yielded, I finally submitted.

Like a soft wind that breezes off a weathered leaf,

Too subtle, feeling reassured of a gentle catch beneath,

Just as any other scoured leaf on a mid-autumn day.

Fragility that once beacons,

It dithers, never ceases to be restless,

A fallen life, a fatal choice of falling.

Message (2)

On graduation day, there is such an explosion of emotions all around: excitement of the graduate, who after four or five years of examinations, term paper, graded recitation, thesis presentation, cannot but have that feeling of exhilaration for having survived all these. There is the feeling of joy of the parents, for having successfully guided their child to this day, where so many other parents fail. There is the feeling of delight of the teachers, for having participated in the learning process of an individual, perhaps, changing the very course of his student's life.
But after all the din of the celebration dies down, the graduate looks at himself and asks: What next? This is how the real world; I am on my own now. I have to start moving toward success.

What is your definition of success? Many will say a high paying job, a car, a beautiful house in an exclusive subdivision. And if you don't get these things, do you consider yourself a failure? Many people define success as the opposite of failure, but as one commencement speaker said: "Success is not the opposite of failure. It is an integral part of failure" Which means that in life, if there is an important thing you want but you fail to achieve it after several attempts, don't give up. Determination, a firm resolve - keep going, until success happens.

There is no reason for you to allow fear to get in your way. As Nelson Mandela has said: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world".

Congratulation Graduates!

Fraternity / Sorority

Joining a fraternity or a sorority (why single out the boys only?) is a matter of choice, an exercise of our right to join any organization. And no one can prevent us from joining, not even the state.

I get emotional every time this topic is touched. I have nothing personal against fraternities since I do respect and uphold freedom of expression. It's just a matter of how some fraternities regard themselves in our society in comparison to "barbaric" non-frat members like myself. They tend to place themselves on par of everyone else. Then, what would you have if every fraternity had such kind of thinking? Endless fratwars for dominance. Lo, the culture of violence, patriarchy and patronage is preserved. Why would you join a frat in the first place? To make connections, ensure employment and wield unbridled access to elite activities? True, not all fraternities engage in violence/fratwars. Some are known for their noble endeavors. Aside from the moronic hazing, what is undesirable about some fraternities is the way elders favor members in place of more qualified applicants to a company where these elders are the bosses. Some law firms are virtual repositories of fraternity/sorority brotherhood/sisterhood. What culture do you call that? Even in government, those who get appointed are the people who have the fraternity connections.

I am not totally against fraternities as they can also be potent catalyst for positive change. For those aiming to join one, caution should be taken to study carefully each frat's history, mission, program of activities, alumni, social standing, etc. Otherwise, fraternities could spell a lifetime of bondage to a wrong cause.

Quotations.

My response to the repetitious and, if I may say, bland questions as to the life choice I've taken can be fairly summarized by the following quotations.  (Pasintabi kina Emerson, Thoreau, Mao, Ghandi, Rand and, yes, Christ.)
“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you tha...t you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.”
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
“The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.”
“What's the use of a fine house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?”
“If you can speak what you will never hear, if you can write what you will never read, you have done rare things”
“Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.”
“Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.”
"One cannot advance without mistakes... It is necessary to make mistakes. The party cannot be educated without learning from mistakes. This has great significance."
"One needs to be slow to form convictions, but once formed they must be defended against the heaviest odds."
"'Ambition' means the systematic pursuit of achievement and of constant improvement in respect to one’s goal. Like the word 'selfishness,' and for the same reasons, the word 'ambition' has been perverted to mean only the pursuit of dubious or evil goals, such as the pursuit of power; this left no concept to designate the pursuit of actual values. But 'ambition' as such is a neutral concept: the evaluation of a given ambition as moral or immoral depends on the nature of the goal. A great scientist or a great artist is the most passionately ambitious of men. A demagogue seeking political power is ambitious. So is a social climber seeking 'prestige.' So is a modest laborer who works conscientiously to acquire a home of his own. The common denominator is the drive to improve the conditions of one’s existence, however broadly or narrowly conceived. ('Improvement' is a moral term and depends on one’s standard of values. An ambition guided by an irrational standard does not, in fact, lead to improvement, but to self-destruction.)"
"Politically, the goal of today’s dominant trend is statism. Philosophically, the goal is the obliteration of reason; psychologically, it is the erosion of ambition. The political goal presupposes the two others. The human characteristic required by statism is docility, which is the product of hopelessness and intellectual stagnation. Thinking men cannot be ruled; ambitious men do not stagnate."
“What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul.”

Equality

People will not apparently shout for inequality if there is none. Shouldn't people who have less in life, have more in law? Same goes with minorities whose natural rights; civil, political and economic rights must be respected to a degree equal with their fellow citizens. True, men and women are created in so different ways and that it is their biological differences that make it so obvious. Yet, it is not a compelling reason to continually allow women to suffer as second class citizens albeit this pressing reality. If men were at a disparaging disadvantage, wouldn't they balk at the idea too? To be unfairly dominated upon is too much to bear for the male ego, is it not? This is why homosexuals and women pick the cudgels and head to the picket lines. They too, regard this discrimination as too much to bear.

Aren't all people regardless of color, gender, political affiliation and the like entitled to equal protection of the law? Or at least uplifted when the delicate balance of the aforementioned powers are distantly skewed from women, homosexuals, etc?

Rights are called rights because these must be exercised without any requirement as to color, gender, religious or political affiliation. Otherwise, they are simply privileges. Rights are intrinsic to the person. Rights make civilized society more livable and enhance the dignity of the human person. Rights must be available to man, woman or otherwise. These rights must only be taken away only by due process of law and not because one belongs to a gender or race looked upon as not superior.

One should be sensitive with regards to issues like these. How would you feel when you are oppressed by a society so antagonistic towards those who cannot perpetuate their power because they fail to overwhelmingly assert their biological superiority? I guess, like those who wish to be vindicated, one is repulsed by such idea. No one likes to be oppressed. Especially when you know what it's like to be in the shoes of the oppressed.

IDEA & IMPRESSION

I was told that idea and impression is different in a sense. So, what's the sense? I hope I remembered it quite well.

Idea is a state of mind that one may have over something/someone consisting of certain verifiable knowledge. On the other hand, impression is a state of mind over something/someone NOT consisting of verified knowledge but of mere personal biases due to culture, education, sex, religion, physical appearance, political history or other circumstantial facts.

Example of this is when one sees a shadow at night. That shadow may give an IMPRESSION of a male or a female - the thing is nobody can be so sure - thus, it cannot be a verified knowledge. Now, once that person appears, let's say it's really a man, then you now have an IDEA that that person and person's shadow was of a man (that man).

Another example maybe is when one is asked in a class recitation about a case that he has not read. In this situation, of course there is no idea. But, there is an impression. What impression is that? Simple. The case is relevant to the topic. That's it nothing more nothing less. But is case's relevance to the topic and the case itself the same thing? No. The case itself is the idea. If you don't know the case, there is no idea. If you only knew that the case is relevant to the topic, then that is an impression. You do not even know for sure that it is relevant until you have read it.

When asked, do you have an idea? If you really do not know and you are just to smile and say something cute, you only have an impression and not idea.

The common experience amongst us is when asked "what is your first impression" about somebody. Then we will say "akala ko dati suplada, pero nung kalaunan nakilala ko din at mabait naman pala". Take note the phrase "akala ko" (i thought). A person always have a first impression about somebody whom he really doesn't know. Whom he has no verified knowledge about. If this is the case, then you are freely and voluntarily creating your own impression. But once you've come to know that person, you will have realizations. You will have a verified knowledge. That's where the "akala ko" (i thought) sets in. When that happens, you start to form an idea. An idea which will last forever or at least longer than a mere first impression.

However, sometimes, first impressions are correct. But when will you know whether it is correct or verified? It will only happen after having understood that something/somebody beyond mere biases/impressions.

Let us then become holders of ideas not impressions. Verify important things or things that seem important to us in one way or another. Lovers of wisdom unite!

Feel free to critique.

New Year's Resolution

DISCIPLINE. That’s how things should be. So that's how I'll make it. And I only have 18 for this year.
  • For 2012, I should scour the whole world. Finish off all the places to be at. I’ll become the backpacker I’ve always wanted to be.
  • I'll buy a new Laptop. Because I'll write again. To sharpen my skills with the pen, or at least the keyboard.
  • I'll start getting organized. With my work planner, and personal organizer, this should be a bit easier. I'll save time, make time and use time.
  • Find a new job, hopefully. Hello Abroad! Ha-ha
  • I'll start studying some recipes. Practice cooking. I should have cooked all the recipes in my mind by end of the year.
  •
    CHEERS TO 2012

  • Quit DRINKING.
  • I'll not buy a phone. I'm happy with my current one, and I'll not fall for advancements or anything. Hello iPhone 5S.
  • Spend more time with my family and friends
  • I'll limit my rice and start eating healthy. At least it's a conscious effort.
  • After months of thinking about it, I have decided to start working out. But not make an obsession of it.
  • I’ll get back to reading. At least 1 book a month. I’ll re-establish book hour. I can do this.
  • Although difficult, I’ll continue saving money, and make sure not to spend it.
  • More SLEEP!
  • I’ll stop drinking coffee
  • Remain being the kid that I am. Keep my perspectives and perceptions fresh. Continue in being naively unprejudiced. And let this point mature. I have a feeling this will be most useful this year.
  • Learn something NEW.
  • SHARE my Blessings and Help others.
  • ENJOYING LIFE MORE.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! =)

EDSA

EDSA Revolution was just the beginning. And the dream of a Filipino nation – of freedom, of justice, of equal opportunity, of peace – must remain in our consciousness.

EDSA 2 was not wrong in itself. That was the appropriate call of the time in order to oust an erring president and cleanse the bureaucracy of corruption. What made it seemingly improper were the circumstances that followed, specifically the kind of president that replaced Erap. Well, that's the price of reformist solutions. Never expect substantial social transformation with cosmetic changes in political leadership.

EDSA was a great chance for real change. But those in power who were bestowed that rare responsibility blew that chance. For greed of power, history just replicated itself.

But renaming EDSA to Cory Aquino Avenue? Come on!

For every rule, there is an exception.

Now, the said statement above is, in itself, a rule.

Question: What is its exception?

Ergo, There should be an exception to the rule,

e.g.- there is no exception to the rule –

However, by excepting something - It does not except anything.

Hence: there is a rule that has no exception which is in itself accepts an exception.

That is the absolute rule you have been looking for.

Otherwise stated- it is the absolute rule by excepting everything including itself. Paradoxically, it excepts nothing by excepting everything.

The rule is that “for every rule there is an exception”.

Applying the rule- that there must be exception, hence: an as exception to the rule, that is: “A rule without exception”, which is in itself an exception to the rule, hence giving credence that indeed there is an exception to every rule.

Otherwise stated, an exception to the exception of the rule is the rule itself.

TORN

Booze and Gasoline
Come on, Tell me which is better?
Or a combination of both,
To help me, Cleanse me.
Set me free, From infinity of pain.

Please, Please.
Alcohol isn't enough,
Weakening my memories, To possibly see her.
My thoughts invoke, To remind me that she was quite,
Someone that I could never seize.

Tell me, Discourse to me.
I want to know, what about gasoline,
Soak all the photos of her,
Burn them to ashes , Although they were a part of me,
As far as I don't see Love.

What am I worried of?
Bathe it all in ethanol,
Burn it, Without fear,
This flame spreads, Destroying everything.
The word Love incinerating.
